Why Acupuncture for Fertility?
Acupuncture is becoming widely recognised and recommended for optimising fertility, as well as used for additional support in preparation and during the IVF process. I am Fertility Support Trained with Naava Carman. It is increasingly recommended as a complementary therapy for those navigating:
- Natural conception challenges
- IVF and IUI cycles
- PMOS (formally known as PCOS), endometriosis, or unexplained infertility
- Recurrent miscarriage
- Male factor infertility
- Secondary infertility
Research suggests acupuncture may help by improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, regulating menstrual cycles, reducing stress hormones, and supporting the uterine lining.
What to expect at your first appointment
When coming into the clinic we will go through a full consultation looking at in detail every area of your health and lifestyle. This will include talking about things like your menstrual cycle (length/frequency, when you ovulate, BBT, menstrual blood, PMS) as well as digestion and bowel movements, diet, hydration, environmental factors, sleep, emotional health, medical history.
I will also take a look at your tongue, ears, face and palpate your abdomen. A full consultation and inspection will help me build up a picture of your current excesses or deficiencies according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. This will then allow me to design an individualised point presciption for you.
The 100-day window: why it matters
It is well known that it takes around 100 days for an egg to be recruited and matured for ovulation. With this in mind, it is advisable to give yourself at least 3 months to prepare yourself, your body and the environment within which the egg will mature and ripen. Emotionally and psychologically this can also give you some breathing space to take your foot off the accelerator and spend some time out to fully nurture yourself.
It takes two: Male Fertility Support
Acupuncture isn’t just for the women. The fertility of men can be boosted and improved too through acupucture, partiularly if you have a known male factor issue. Remember it always takes two.
IVF support: working alongside your clinic
During the IVF process we can look at which drug protocol you have been given, and why, as well as use acupuncture to help reduce PMS and menopausal-like symptoms experienced from the drugs. We can also book in to give pre and post TVOR (egg collection) and pre and post embryo transfer sessions. These are hugely beneficial not only to nourish and boost uterine Qi and Blood but also to support the Shen (emotions and heart space). Acupuncture after egg collection is particularly useful to help recover from the procedure before a fresh transfer. From your scans we can also monitor other things such as endometrial thickness, blood flow, follicle sizes and growth rate, and oestrogen levels to get ahead of any potential ovarian hyperstimulation (OHSS).
Partner clinic: Blood tests and fertility screening
I’ve partnered with a local private GP practice to make fertility blood testing easier for my clients.
If you don’t have recent blood tests or your GP waiting list is too long, you can access testing directly through our partnership. As my client you receive a discounted bespoke fertility package.
This means we can get a full picture of your hormonal health quickly, and I can tailor your acupuncture treatment from the very first session.

If you are interested in this service please book an initial appointment where we will go through a full and detailed consultation so I can build up a well rounded picture to make a plan of action. Initial appointments are £150.
Moving forward prices are as follows:
- 6 weekly sessions for £405 (10% discount included)
- Course of 12 weekly sessions* £810 (includes 10% discount) [*Recommended]
Note payments must be made 72 hours in advance of the appointment. Packs of weekly sessions are payable up front. Sometimes there may be one or two weeks where we cannot treat (due to holidays or work commitments for example) for which I am happy to be flexible.
Note that to get the best results, committing to a package of weekly sessions alongside dietary, nutritional and lifestyle advice will guarantee the best results.
